Since xAI now owns X/Twitter, we are starting to see lots of AI features on X. But I argue that these features are not needed, because we already have a lot of magic that makes it fascinating.

1.    Feed disappears, like magic

You go to X.com and nothing. Absolutely nothing. This happens so frequently lately. The only solution is to clean the cache from Chrome, specifically for X.com. I once mistakenly cleaned all stored cookies etc.

2.     The statistics are magical

Below the post, it shows 115 retweets and 540 likes. If you click on the bar icon next to 43k, the pop-up shows that it was retweeted 113 times and liked 528 times, similar to what I saw on my phone.

Upon further investigation, this is because this post was edited once. The first version has 2 repots and 12 likes. These are precisely the differences between the two statistics. But some consistency would be nice.

3.     The post disappears if you promote it!

For fun, I spent $20 to boost my post for two days. Immediately after I did that, I could not find the promoted post on my laptop. No matter how I tried to find the post, I could only see the replies. Pure magic!

4.   Magic math ( N vs. N-1)

I set a promotion budget of $20 over 2 days. Initially, I noticed that it’s going twice as fast as expected. It ended after 1 day. This screenshot explains it well. No logic can explain that $18/$20 spent in half of the time. Again, X engineers are magicians!

Of course, it’s absolutely inconceivable that someone forgot to offset by 1 when calculating start and end times.

Based on these observations, I concluded that X is a magical place already. No AI needed.

Firing 80% of the engineers while still maintaining this level of magic is truly … magical!
